618. How does work at the substantial gainful activity level affect disability?

Generally, we cannot find you disabled if you file an application for Social Security disability benefits or SSI disability payments while you are working and performing substantial gainful activity.

If you start performing substantial gainful activity after you begin to receive either Social Security disability benefits or SSI disability payments, we will determine whether you continue to qualify for disability.
