The Robert J. Myers Papers

Robert J. "Bob" Myers was the SSA Chief Actuary from 1947 until 1970. Before that, he served on President Roosevelt's Committee on Economic Security, where he did the original actuarial estimates for the Social Security Act of 1935. After leaving SSA, Myers remained active in research, writing and consulting on Social Security. (See here for more information on Bob Myers.)

A prodigious author, Myers published over 1,000 scholarly articles during his career. Following his death in February 2010 at age 97, the complete set of his published articles were donated to the SSA History Archives.
