Disability Program

In July 1974 the staff of the House Ways and Means Committee produced a comprehensive review and analysis of the disability programs under the Social Security Act. This report contained a brief 17-page legislative history of disability from 1935 until the date of the report in 1974. That history section from the Ways & Means Committee publication is reproduced below.
