CONCORD RESIDENT CHARGED WITH THEFT OF DISABILITY BENEFITS FROM THE SOCIAL
SECURITY ADMINISTRATION
CONCORD, NEW HAMPSHIRE:
A federal grand jury has charged Marion Lord, with theft of public money from
the Social Security Administration. The indictment alleges that Lord converted
$49,000 in Social Security disability benefits which had been provided to her
in her capacity as the representative payee for her child, to her own use. If
convicted, Lord faces a term of incarceration of up to ten years, a term of supervised
release of up to thee years, and a fine of up to $250,000.
The case was investigated by the Social Security Administration - Office of the
Inspector General. AUSA Mark Irish is prosecuting the case.
An indictment is only an allegation and not proof of criminal conduct. As in all
criminal cases, the defendant are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond
a reasonable doubt.
