Average monthly benefit of those in current payment status, by sex, December 2001

This bar chart shows the average monthly benefit of those in current payment status by sex. As already discussed in the main text, disabled workers receive the highest benefits, with men receiving $913.70 and women receiving $688.30. Disabled widowers receive $374.80 compared with $541.20 for widows. Finally, disabled adult children have the least disparity in benefits between the sexes, with men receiving $535.30 and women receiving $540.30.
