There could be good news for many of the millions of Americans who receive disability benefits from Social Security and want to work. A free and voluntary program called Ticket To Work offers them access to meaningful employment while maintaining control over benefit choices. Ed bear-ohs, a farmer and mechanic, went back to the work he loved with the help of the program. He'd gone on disability after suffering from severe arthritis, complicated by a knee injury and was concerned about losing the payments and health care he needed to survive. He worried that employers might not want to hire him. Through the program, he received help from an employment network to prepare for his entry back into the workforce. Because of ticket to work, he is eligible to receive Medicare coverage for up to eight and a half years after his disability payments end. If you receive Social Security disability benefits, are between eighteen and sixty-four years old and want to work, you can visit social security dot gov slash work or call 866-968-7842 to learn more.
