ROTATIONAL ASSIGNMENTS
The following highlights the types of rotational assignments that PMFs in the San Francisco Region have completed:
Center for Materiel Resources, Financial Management Team
- Conducted an ongoing program of internal review of SSA fiscal operations which are under the day-to-day control of the Regional Commissioner.
- Provided input on making decisions on how to spend SSA’s limited resources to effectively achieve the Region’s objectives.
- Consolidated Excel spending reports of various regional components.
- Reviewed staffing and FTE allocations within the Region to maximize regional allocation.
Center for Programs
- Traveled to various Field Offices to ensure implementation of the changes resulting from the Welfare Reform Act.
- Analyzed the Medicare Prescription Drug Legislation to anticipate its impact on SSA.
- Pursued status updates of various fraud projects in the Region.
- Drafted a statement for pilot anti-fraud contract.
- Designed a presentation about reporting Social Security Taxes.
Disability Redesign Team (Baltimore)
- Assisted with the national rollout of the new Disability Prototype Process, developed flyers/posters for Field Offices, and participated in national meetings.
Office of Personnel Management
- Assisted in the launching of Action Learning Teams.
- Designed an Orientation Workshop on Action Learning Teams.
- Evaluated progress on Action Learning Team Pilots.
- Redesigned PMF Program Orientation and Graduation Training Session.
- Provided assistance during the PMF Program Application Open Season.
- Designed an Academic Outreach Presentation for colleges and universities.
State Disability Determination Service (DDS)
- Implemented the new Disability Prototype Process.
- Conducted a special study to review Field Office quality and the impact it has on the DDS' ability to process the cases.
- Conducted special training/outreach for all the Field Offices associated with the DDS.
- Organized Field Office/DDS/Office of Disability Adjudication and Review liaison meetings.
Center for Disability
- Provided information to the Disability Program Administrators for review of the state DDS' claims.
- Analyzed the increase in SSA's disability allowance rates.
Civil Rights and Equal Opportunity Office (CREO)
- Developed and presented CREO briefing for Regional Executives.
- Participated in pre-mediation conference calls with managers in order to brief them on the mediation process and the development of settlement options.
- Assisted in leading Diversity Training for new employees at various district and field offices in California.
- Conducted initial intake interviews of employees seeking to file an EEO informal complaint on the discriminatory basis of age, sex, race, religion, or disability.
- Queried and updated the national EEO database and iComplaints concerning pending cases.
Regional Public Affairs Office
- Organized joint SSA/CMS Congressional Seminars.
- Drafted Regional Commissioner's speeches on the Social Security Protection Act, Homeless Outreach, and the Ticket to Work Program, as well as a presentation to the International Postal Carrier's Conference and the Nevada State Department of Aging's Conference.
- Coordinated the outreach and strategic plan for marketing the Medicare Part D prescription drug card to beneficiaries.
- Coordinated and conducted Public Service Training for new hires.
- Helped organize and successfully realize the Region’s first National Diversity Conference.
- Coordinated the Region's "Save For Your Future Campaign."
- Developed SSA's message for the Asian-American Community.
- Coordinated the White House Conference on Social Security.
Regional Teleservice Operations
- Facilitated the establishment of a new unit in Salinas.
Claims Representative
- Conducted interviews and informed members of the general public regarding their rights and responsibilities under the SSA Title II Program.
- Referred applicants and other individuals to various agencies and sources equipped to provide additional program assistance and services.
- Adjudicated claims for benefits and payments under the Social Security Programs.
- Identified persons requiring a representative payee, evaluated qualifications of prospective candidates, selected the preferred payee and reassessed the payee’s continuing suitability for benefits.
- Identified, verified, documented, and reported program abuse cases or other questionable situations encountered.
Area Operations Analyst
- Assisted in the coordination of management, operation, and appraisal activities associated with the functions of offices in the Area Director’s jurisdiction.
- Performed analytical and administrative functions to facilitate operations at the Area Director level.
- Designed and implemented procedures to coordinate and control major projects spanning district and/or area boundaries.
- Maintained contact as a liaison with Region and area components, as well as Congressional, state and local entities, and third party organizations.
Presidential Library Project
- Researched Administrative History of SSA during the Clinton Administration.
Department of State - Bureau of East Asian & Pacific Affairs
- Analyzed economic policy.
- Attended the APEC 2001 Meeting in China.
- Attended the APEC Symposium in Mexico City.
In addition to the assignments listed above, PMFs also had many other challenging rotational opportunities. |
