Subject: Congressional Inquiries
This transmittal amends sections I-1-6-5 and I-1-6-15 of the Hearings, Appeals and Litigation Law (HALLEX) manual to reflect updated policies and procedures regarding congressional inquiries.
I-1-6-5 – In subsection D, we removed reference to outdated instructions in the Office of Appellate Operations (OAO) business process regarding congressional inquiries. We also made editorial changes throughout.
I-1-6-15 – In subsections A and B, we revised and updated the Congressional and Public Affairs (CPAB) branch's internal business processes. We also updated information regarding CPAB's external communications regarding congressional inquiries. For example, in sub-subsection B.2.a, we added a NOTE distinguishing how congressional interest will be added to a paper versus an electronic claim(s) file. In sub-subsection B.4.a., we removed outdated instructions in the OAO business process regarding congressional inquiries. Finally, we made editorial changes throughout.
