Background

This transmittal amends section I-2-3-40 of the Hearings, Appeals and Litigation Law (HALLEX) manual to update instructions for disclosing information about the status of a case.

Explanation of Content and Changes

We amended HALLEX I-2-3-40 by changing the title to “Requests for Case Status.” We added five subsections titled “Claimant”; “Appointed Representative”; “Congressional Staff”; “Government Official, Agency, or Media”; and “Other Inquiries.” We updated and added missing instructions to address the procedures for handling inquiries on the status of a case, including adding helpful citations to the Program Operations Manual System.
