Information Regarding SSA’s Furlough Status

Updated information regarding SSA’s furlough status will only be available on SSA’s nationwide furlough hotline. Employees should call: 1-866-909-6876 for SSA's furlough status. Deaf and hard of hearing employees should use their relay service.

Employees should also monitor the news media for up-to-date information on the budget situation. Once an agreement has been reached, a general announcement advising Federal employees to return to work will be made through the news media.

Unemployment Compensation

SSA employees applying for Unemployment Benefits for Federal Employees (UCFE) must apply through the unemployment agency of the State where last worked, regardless of their respective current residence. This will ensure that the claim is routed properly.

For information regarding unemployment compensation, SSA employees should contact the appropriate unemployment compensation office. Contact information for the unemployment compensation office in each state is provided here.

SSA employees should use the following address when asked for SSA's official employer payroll office address:

For State Unemployment offices that require a 3-digit Agency Code and/or a copy of the Standard Form (SF)-8 Notice to Federal Employee About Unemployment Compensation, our code is 687 and please print this SF-8 form if needed.

Please note that Equifax is unable to assist SSA employees directly with questions about their unemployment compensation claims. Employees should work directly with the state workforce agencies.
