    • Please refer to the IRS Instructions for more information
    • Please refer to the IRS News Release for more updates
    • For Tax Year 2020, submit W-2 information as normal for Social Security Wages (box 3), Social Security Taxes Withheld (box 4), Social Security Tips (box 7), and appropriate EFW2 fields.
    • In 2021, you will need to submit W-2Cs if you collect Social Security Tax in 2021 for the deferred period in 2020.
  • Truncated Social Security Numbers (SSNs)
  • How to report SSNs

    • SSA will not accept truncated SSNs that only show the last four digits (XXX-XX-1234) on Copy A Form W-2 or in the SSN field when using the EFW2. Please remember to show all nine digits of the SSN for proper processing.
