Starting March 28, 2020, the Social Security Administration (SSA) will continue to transition its electronic FOIA processing platform from eFOIA to FOIAonline. As a result, effective 5:00 PM EST on Saturday, March 28, SSA will no longer accept FOIA requests through the eFOIA system. On Sunday, March 29 at approximately 12:00 PM EST, SSA will begin using FOIAonline for all electronic FOIA submissions to include requests for a photocopy of an Original Application for a Social Security Card (SS-5) or Computer Extract of Social Security Card Application (Numident) of a deceased person.

During this transition period, there will be a brief period where you will be unable to submit electronic requests for a photocopy of an Original Application for a Social Security Card (SS-5) or Computer Extract of Social Security Card Application (Numident) of a deceased person electronically.
