International Programs - U.S.-Norwegian Social Security Agreement - Article 7.2.b.iii

Under Norwegian laws, the maximum number of years of residence or pension point years that can be taken into account for calculating a basic or supplementary pension is 40.  Article 7.2(b)(iii) provides that, in computing a Norwegian Totalization benefit, the Norwegian agency will limit the denominator of the pro rata fraction to 40 years.  This will result in a larger benefit amount than would be payable if the actual duration of coverage were used in the denominator.
