On behalf of Martin O'Malley, Commissioner of Social Security, I am pleased to share our agency's updates to policies, pursuant to the Presidential Memorandum on Tribal Consultation and Strengthening Nation-to-Nation Relationships. In alignments with the Fiscal Year 2024 Tribal Consultation Call To Action Plan, the Office of Native American Partnerships continues to improve outreach with Tribal Leaders and Urban Indian Organization Leaders by sharing the most recent Social Security Administration Press Releases.
We summarized the following Press Releases
- On March 29th, Social Security to Raise the Representative Fee Cap to Help with Claiming Benefits by the raising the fee cap for claimants' representatives, from $7,200 to $9,200.
- On March 29th, Social Security Eliminates Overpayment Burden for Social Security Beneficiaries will decrease overpayment withholding rate to 10% (or $10, whichever is greater).
- On March 27th, Social Security to Remove Barriers to Accessing SSI Payments by publishing a final rule, "Omitting Food from In-Kind Support and Maintenance (ISM) Calculations."
