Download this dataset
This dataset provides annual data for 1989 - 2016 for the average processing time (elapsed time in days) for dispositions by the Appeals Council (AC) (both Administrative Appeals Judges and Adjudicative Officers issue AC decisions) on requests for review of hearing level decisions or dismissals. We provide this dataset to show a picture of the time it took to process these requests for review. It should be noted that the AC does not always process cases on a first in first out basis and processing times can vary based on individual case characteristics.
Fiscal Year (FY): The 12-month period from October 1st through September 30th.
Average Processing Time (in days): The average number of days from receipt to disposition that it took for the AC to complete their processing of requests for review.
