Asian American Pacific Islanders Events- Towson, MD and Hockessin, DE

Representatives of the Social Security Administration (SSA) met with representatives from the Baltimore and Delaware Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) communities to discuss how SSA could work more closely with them. The two meetings took place at the Baltimore County Library in Towson, MD and the Hockessin Library in Hockessin, DE. SSA representatives provided information on all of the benefits programs that the agency administers and the online services available, including SSA’s Multi-Language Gateway, which offers Social Security information in 15 languages at SocialSecurity.gov. SSA representatives also provided information on interpreter services available to the non-English speaking public, identity documents required to obtain a Social Security Number Card, and the eligibility and residency requirements for benefits. They also encouraged the AAPI community representatives to go online to create a my Social Security account to give them direct access to their personal information such as benefit verification letters, Social Security Statements and earnings records.
