Extended Medicare Coverage (SSDI eligible)

What is Extended Medicare Coverage?

Most individuals with disabilities who are working will continue to receive Medicare coverage for at least 93 consecutive months (7 years and 9 months) following the 9-month Trial Work Period (TWP). This coverage includes Hospital Insurance (Part A), which has no premium, as well as Supplemental Medical Insurance (Part B) and Prescription Drug coverage (Part D, if the individual is enrolled in these parts. While cash benefits may stop due to work activity, you can be assured that your health insurance coverage will continue during this period.

When does this start?

The 93 months start the month after the last month of your TWP.

How do you qualify?

You must already have Medicare, your cash benefits must have stopped because of work above the substantial gainful activity (SGA) level, and you must continue to have a disabling impairment.
