In December 2014, about 13 million people aged 18–64 received benefits on the basis of disability. Sixty-two percent (8.1 million) received benefits from the Social Security program only, 27 percent (3.5 million) received benefits from the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program only, and 11 percent (1.4 million) received benefits from both programs concurrently.
