Certain people younger than age 65 can qualify for Medicare, too, including those who have disabilities and those who have permanent kidney failure. If You Already Have Medicare

If you already have Medicare Part A and wish to sign up for Medicare Part B, please complete form CMS 40-B, Application for Enrollment in Medicare - Part B (Medical Insurance), and take or mail it to your local Social Security office.

Anyone who has Medicare can get Medicare prescription drug coverage. Some people with limited resources and income also may be able to get Extra Help to pay for the costs.

If your Medicare card is lost, stolen or damaged, you can ask for a new one online. If you need immediate proof that you have Medicare, you can get your benefit verification letter online by logging into your my Social Security account.

If you live in Puerto Rico you will not receive Medicare Medical Insurance (Medicare Part B) automatically. You will need to sign up for it during your initial enrollment period or you will pay a penalty. To sign up, please call our toll-free number at 1-800-772-1213 (TTY 1-800-325-0778) or contact your local Social Security office.
