We are constantly expanding our online services to give you freedom and control when conducting business with Social Security. Today, you can apply for retirement, disability, and Medicare benefits online. With a personal my Social Security account, you can check the status of an application or appeal, request a replacement Social Security card (in most areas), print a benefit verification letter, and more – from anywhere and from any of your devices!

To create your online my Social Security account, first you’ll need to decide whether to create a Login.gov or an ID.me account. There is no wrong choice, it’s just a matter of which account is the best fit for you.
