Depending on your situation, you may be able to apply for a replacement card online. If not, you'll need to make an appointment at a local office. After we complete your request, you’ll receive your replacement card by mail in 5 to 10 business days.

You may not need to replace your card if you know your Social Security number. In most cases, a physical card isn't necessary.

The fastest way to get a replacement card is to start your application online. Your local Social Security office cannot print one for you.
