Background
This transmittal adds a new chapter to the Hearings, Appeals and Litigation Law (HALLEX) manual. Chapter I-1-9 provides instructions regarding handling threats of violence at the Office of Disability Adjudication and Review.
Explanation of Content and Changes
HALLEX I-1-9 is organized as follows:
HALLEX I-1-9-5 – This section provides hearing office procedures for handling threats of violence from the public.
HALLEX I-1-9-10 – This section sets forth hearing office procedures for banning individuals from Social Security offices when the individual has threatened violence against the agency.
HALLEX I-1-9-15 – This section provides Appeals Council procedures for handling threats of violence from the public.
