Social Security Administration’s FY 2025 Progress and Accomplishments

Today, Commissioner Bisignano sent a letter to Congress highlighting the agency’s significant progress and accomplishments over Fiscal Year 2025.
In this letter, Commissioner Bisignano recognized the dedication of SSA employees, who continued to deliver quality service to the American public even during the government shutdown. SSA maintained timely payments and support for beneficiaries, and made important strides in modernizing service delivery, improving technology, and enhancing customer experience.
Some key accomplishments include:
- Improved Customer Service: Reduced wait times on the National 800 Number and in field offices, while serving more customers than ever before.
- Expanded Online Services: Enhanced my Social Security accounts and provided 24/7 access to benefit information resulting in a nearly 20% increase in online transactions.
- Social Security Fairness Act Implementation: Delivered over $17 billion in payments ahead of schedule to eligible beneficiaries.
- Disability Claims Backlog Reduction: Lowered the backlog by more than 25% and improved processing times.
- Supplemental Security Income (SSI) Program Enhancements: Renewed focus on the SSI program, with new leadership and process improvements to increase payment accuracy and reduce complexity.
