National Financial Capability Month
Date:
Dear Colleague,
April is National Financial Capability Month, also known as Financial Literacy Month. It’s a time to highlight the importance of making informed financial decisions and planning for long-term security. At Social Security, we are committed to providing tools and resources that help people plan for their financial future.
We recently updated our Information for Financial Professionals webpage. This page brings together clear, easy-to-use information about our programs, including:
- Guidance to help clients understand their Social Security benefits.
- Information on how work and earnings may affect benefits, especially for people planning for retirement or returning to work.
- Resources to support long-term financial planning, such as life expectancy tools, benefit calculators, and links to additional federal programs.
We also encourage you to promote my Social Security, our secure online service that allows people to access personalized information and manage their benefits. With a personal my Social Security account, individuals can:
- Review their Social Security Statement and verify their earnings history.
- Estimate future benefits to support retirement planning.
- Request a replacement Social Security card in most states.
- Manage direct deposit, contact information, and other benefit-related services.
These tools help people make informed choices at every stage of life. Please share these resources with your networks, including financial counseling programs, community organizations, schools, workforce partners, and others who support individuals and families.
Thank you for your partnership and for helping people build financial stability and security.
Sincerely,
Nick Perrine
Chief Communications Officer
