Older Americans Month
Date:
Dear Colleague,
May is Older Americans Month, a time to recognize the valuable contributions older adults make to our communities and to reaffirm our commitment to their well-being. At the Social Security Administration, we are dedicated to serving older Americans in the manner that best meets their needs, whether online, by phone, or in person, while helping them securely access the services and information they need.
As part of our efforts to protect seniors from scams, the Social Security Administration and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General (HHS OIG) are hosting a joint webinar on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. ET. The session will highlight practical resources to help you and those you serve recognize, avoid, and report scams, and provide guidance on using Social Security’s online services safely and securely. We invite you to join us and share this opportunity with your networks.

We also encourage older Americans, and every American who is at least 18 years old, to create a personal my Social Security account. Establishing an account helps individuals secure their personal information, prevents unauthorized access by bad actors, and reduces the risk of fraudulent benefit claims.
For additional information about scams or to report Social Security-related fraud, please visit our Protect Yourself from Social Security Scams webpage.
Thank you for your ongoing partnership and dedication to protecting older Americans.
Sincerely,
Nick Perrine
