Update direct deposit

Make sure your monthly benefits go to the right account. Update your bank information online.

Sign in to your account to update your bank information. This is the fastest way to make changes.

Depending on your benefit type, you may need to call us to change your direct deposit. If your update can’t be completed online, we’ll let you know next steps.

Available in most U.S. time zones Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., in English, Spanish, and other languages.

Tell the representative you want to update your direct deposit.

Ask your bank to update it for you

Your bank can send your updated direct deposit information directly to Social Security—no call or office visit required. Ask your bank about enrolling through the Automated Enrollment (ENR) process. Not all banks offer ENR, so check yours first.

Don't have a bank account?

The FDIC website offers information to help you open a bank account online or at a local branch.

Make an appointment to update your direct deposit in person at your local Social Security office.
